a fork in the road

Whoops, it's been awhile. Time flies by when you're having fun. My trip to So Cal was more than a success I'd say! It was a fast paced trip, on the move, trying to do everything and see everyone I wanted. I had a blast :)

But now back to my day to day. Been struggling with kind of a life altering decision, a fork in the road. One way seems like the smart, responsible, mature, adult way to go. A much better paying job which would also bring benefits and a much shorter (and cheaper, no tollroads) commute. The other way is more careless job-wise, but on the route towards finishing my education. Unfortunately I can't realistically do both.  The job is  8-5 mon through fri and school needs to be full time because of loans and the fact that I want to get that degree asap. But it's also that currently (and for the last year) I've been doing the 8-5 thing while my other half has been doing the opposite schedule. We never see each other and it's brought me really down (another reason I started this blog I guess). I think happiness is more important that money and I think that answers my decision.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

I love this movie, in fact I just put in on. It's inspiring. I love the images, the beauty of Spain, the music. Puts me in a creative mood. I wish I had appreciated Barcelona more when I was there. A week was not long enough to take it all in and explore. I hope to make it back one day...

roman holiday

La bocca della verita.

I love this movie, reminds me of my roman holiday a few years ago where I fell in love :)

less than a week!

oh emm gee I'll be there in 6 days! Holy moly doesn't even feel real. Don't think it'll hit me till I'm on my way to the airport. Super bummed John isn't going with me :(  Flying alone isn't any fun and I know he misses the west coast. I'm gonna miss him. But I'm really really really looking forward to seeing my family and friends :) Can't wait!

weekend

Guess it's been a few days, had a busy/eventful weekend. Didn't get to any of the places on my list, that's okay, many more weekends to come.  On saturday I met up with my good friend Lauren, who is having a baby girl in about two weeks, and we went and visited our friend Kristina and her three week old daughter Lily :) So cute! But glad it isn't me, not yet anyways, one day.  My other good friend Kassie is having a baby boy and her baby shower is this coming sunday. Guess it's baby season! haha  Sunday was exciting, cough cough.  John and I are out with some friends in my car, we stop for gas and next thing we know my car won't start :( Had to get it towed to a mechanic and find out monday morning I have a dead battery, lame. So in the past month I've bought two new tires and a new battery for my car, but hey, she feels more energized driving around town now!  Sunday night also brought crazy weather. Around six in the evening, out of nowhere,  it down poured like I've never seen, and for all of 7 minutes maybe? Winds going so fast there were trees knocked down around the neighborhood. A big branch fell on out neighbors roof. And there were thunder and lighting storms the rest of the night. Hmmm maybe that's what killed my battery....

(I found this image on the pinterest website, on the board. Pinterest is pretty cool. Just recently came across it, but I love all the fun and different images people post. Not a social networking site to be missed)

In honor of it being hump day. A few cute camels :)

Hump Day

It's wednesday, hump day, two more days till the weekend. Last weekend was great, a nice long 4 day holiday weekend. I wonder what's going to happen this weekend? No plans as of yet, but we're not really known for making plans ahead of time. Unfortunately it feels like summer is in full swing here in Houston, hot hot and humid, yuck! So that makes spending time in the great outdoors a whole lot harder... and that seems like all I want to do.

A few things I'd like to do this weekend (if it's not 100% humid out, blah)

1. Check out Brazos Bend State Park
I've been in Texas (this time around) for a year and a half now and have yet to explore any state parks or nature reserves. Plus this place is known for having a lot of alligators! I'd love to see some of these guys up close and personal :)

2. Go to the beach!
Ok so even if it's horribly hot and humid this weekend that's all the more reason to spend a day down in Galveston. Relax and lay out by the water, sounds good to me!

3. Museums anyone?
Houston has a whole museum district. It would be fun to check any of them out; art, space, science. Hmmm I wonder if any offer student discounts, I'll have to look into that...

4. Houston Observatory
It's located in Brazos Bend! Two birds with one stone?? Plus it's open on saturday nights. John and I have been watching a lot of space documentaries lately on Netflix so I think we'd both really enjoy checking it out.

5. Beer Can House!
Did you know that there's a house in Houston made out of beer cans? Well maybe not entirely out of beer cans but from the pictures it looks like they cover the whole house. Open weekends, fun to stop by and check it out. Feel like a tourist. Talk about recycling!!!

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what we end up doing this weekend. We're both off from work saturday and sunday (yeah!) so anythings possible :)
